Paint, Countertops, and Lowes

Finally now that I am off of bedrest I am able to do the things that I have been itching to do. First off while I was on bedrest any room that I would use often enough I would want to repaint, repair, or remodel. This being said I have since painted my living room and my bathroom cabinets. The reason I wanted to repaint the bathroom cabinets are these:

1. they did not match each other

2. they were both ugly

3. I am nesting and have been wanting to repaint something, so it might as well be the ugliest, non-matching things in my house.

4. the countertop needed to be replaced also because it was cracked and germs were growing at the rate of millions per second. So why not do both at the same time.

This brings me to my next point, the counter top. So we went to Lowe's this afternoon to find a counter top, thinking that we would find something basic to replace the one that we had. Much to our dismay our countertop would have to be custom made in order to work with our vanity. This was going to cost us something like three hundred dollars, which was way more than I was thinking for a basic counter top. Richard was helping us out when he saw my face droop at the price he was quoting us. Then he said that there was a marble counter top that came in with the box damaged so they were selling it at a discount. It happened to be 4 inches too big, but it would fit in our bathroom! Not only would it fit, it was the perfect color too!! You can imagine that this made me quite excited, not only did we get a counter top, but it was also marble, beautifully colored, and longer than the one before, yet it still fit in our bathroom! Charismatic Sunday

Last sunday, I decided that my son is a charismatic.  He could not sit still durning services, which makes it quite difficult to concentrate since he is still in the womb.  It would be easier if he would limit his spiritual experiences until after his birth, because it is not helping mine.  Oh well I suppose I am happy that he was so in tune to the service, because I clearly was not.  What a spiritual son I have. 

On another note, I made it to 36 weeks!!!  No more pills, no more bedrest, I am a pretty happy camper.  I went grocery shopping today- I almost forgot what wal-mart looked like from the inside.  Ok well now that I am able to be more active, I probably will revert back to the "hardly ever post-Elise"  rather than the "once a week post -Elise"  that you may or may not have grown used to.  Time will only tell.

Random Thought

What if you get identical twins mixed up at birth.  I mean, you could be calling them by the wrong name all your life.  And then when they are old enough how could they really know for sure they were who their parents said they were.  As an identical twin, you would have to really trust your parents.  And as parents, you would really never be able to space out.  I don't think I would want to have that kind of pressure. 

Lemon Cake

I love lemon cake!  Being on bedrest has made for me a great opportunity to sample new things that other people make and bring us.  One being lemon cake.  It is so amazing and light, a perfect summer dessert!  Here is the recipe for all to enjoy:

1 pkg. white Pillsbury pudding cake mix
1 can lemon pie filling
1 8 oz cool whip
1 can lemon icing

1. Prepare the cake according to the package directions

2. Dollop lemon pie filling on top of unbaked cake
3. Bake according to package directions
4. Mix cool whip and frosting and spread on fully cooled cake
5. Impress all who come to eat it!

Belly Tricks and Bedrest

It has been about 4 months since my Lucy post.  You see, I did not have anything to write about so I did not bother.   Ok, ok so SOME things have happened since then that I could have posted about.  For example I have not yet posted that I am expecting a baby in September, or that I have been on bedrest for the past month, plus or minus a few weeks, but other than that, it has been quite boring.  

However, there are not many people these days who do not have facebook, so those who heard about this news on FB will think this post slightly boring.   And to those people who do find this post boring I will say this, "Helloooo, stop reading it then."  

On a more serious note, I have learned a few tricks since I became all belly and no waist, and one is: I can turn my belly button inside out!  Yes I know it will soon become that way on its own, but for now it is very entertaining. (Ok so here is where I was going to post the video of this amazing phenomenon, but then I decided not to, because it grossed some people out when I showed it to them.  Sorry to disappoint). 

The other trick is not really me that is doing it, but rather the life inside. I discovered this trick while I was doing my devotions one afternoon.   I will set books on my tummy and he will kick them, and they move like three inches!!!  I think it is important to mention that these are no ordinary paperback novels, but heavy stuff like the Life Ap. hardcover Bible!  (Yes I know my son is so amazingly strong!)  With all of this talent, I should be in the circus, or maybe I will leave that to my son I haven't quite decided.  

Lucy

Lucy came to stay with us last Friday evening.  She is our neighbor's puppy that he is trying to sell.  We are not buying her but we are babysitting with the option to by at the end of the trial period.  So far it has been and experience filled with sleepless nights and constant mess control!  We are so happy when she is happy, but she lets us know when she is not, and when she is not we are not!

Yesterday, was not a typical Lucy day.  First of all she slept all day long, so we were kind of worried that she would not sleep at all that night.  Well she pleasantly surprised us!  We put a tic-tock clock by her bed and a portable radiator and she slept just fine all night long!  At one point in the night I thought that she was dead or passed out or something because she was so quiet, I went to check on her and she was sleeping away!  I am so proud and hope she keeps it up, maybe that way Paul would want to keep her too!  I have a suspicion that she was so good because she overheard us talking about how we are ready to give her back to her owner, so she was extra good so she could stay with us (she really likes us).  Anyhoo, I love her and wish we could keep her!
